The module has a catalytic converter (10) with intake cone, and an exhaust cooler (20) with parallel pipes (21.1,21.2,21.3). The pipes are connected into a multiple tube (22.1,22.2) at both ends. The are deformed to give a flat contact area, and welded together gas-tight. The outer contour of the multiple tube is shaped to facilitate a gas-tight connection to neighboring elements (11,13). The pipes are of different lengths and/or different cross sections. The shorter pipes are partially heat insulated. The pipes are enclosed by a housing with coolant intakes and outlets.
