Button-sewing machine with thread cutter operated after set number of stitches, includes holder displacing button for sewing and subsequent thread cutting

The machine includes a holder (110) for a button and material to which it is sewn. A displacer (150) moves the holder to match the stitching pattern attaching button to material. One blade is fixed in position, whilst a second blade moves to snip the thread against it. A controller guides the displacer, to locate the button in a set position relative to the fixed blade, for thread cutting. Preferred features: The controller moves the button such that spacing between a pre-tied part of the thread in a final needle position, and a section of the fixed blade, is held constant. Alternatively the spacing can be varied to change the length of thread remaining, following cutting. A control panel allows input of a spacing correction. On the moving blade, a barrier prevents contact between it and the thread, before the fixed blade is aligned with the moving blade. The barrier is a section ahead of the moving blade, which is brought into contact with the thread and guides it to the fixed blade.
