The procedure consists of placing the sheet metal (8) over a template (2) with a curved surface (3, 4) and fixing the two opposite ends of the sheet between the jaws (5, 6) of locking heads (1). The template and heads are then moved towards one another so that the sheet covers a major part of the template surface and also makes contact with the curved surfaces (11) of shaping members (12) on the locking heads.
