The invention is a receiver and a method of receiving data having a preferred application in a satellite. A receiver in accordance with the invention includes a plurality of data channels (1-R) with each data channel transmitting data groups each containing a plurality of bits; a memory (130), coupled to the plurality of data channels, which stores the data groups in data blocks with each data block containing at least one data group and which sequentially outputs the data blocks; and an outer decoder (102), coupled to the data blocks, which sequentially decodes the data blocks.
