METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING PLASTIC OPTICAL LENSES AND MOLDS

A method and apparatus for manufacturing plastic opthomalic and intra-ocular lenses and molds is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a master mold for creating disposable or re-usable molds that may be used at the point of sale. The molds comprise a "moth-eye" anti-reflective surface. The anti-reflective surface may be an integral part of the lens. The anti-reflective surface can be incorporated into a hardened surface of the lens. Further disclosed is an improved curing chamber (72) comprising reflective inner surfaces and directionally vector-less ultraviolet light is used for curing lenses. A gasket-less lens molding system (50) is provided that may be either re-useable or disposable is disclosed. Also provided is an improved method of providing photosensitive eyeglasses and coatings. A system using less coloring agent for providing lenses of different colors is also disclosed.
