PURPOSE: A device for paging in a wireless communication system and a method therefore are provided to enable a base station to determine whether to use an RSCM(Reduced Slot Cycle Mode) according to a degree of transmission interference, and to transmit a control message to a mobile station in order to control usage of the RSCM, thereby optimally performing a paging scheduling process. CONSTITUTION: A traffic monitor(260) monitors traffic statistical values for mobile stations. An RSC(Reduced Slot Cycle) controller(270) selects a mobile station which disables an RSCM if the traffic statistical values exceed a preset threshold value, and generates the first control message for disabling the RSCM to the selected mobile station, and then transmits the generated first control message. The traffic statistical values refer to the number of the mobile stations operating with the RSCM.
