PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aniline-aldehyde resin to be compounded with rubber, providing excellent toughness without reducing hardness and modulus, causing low heat build-up, and having activities as a deterioration-inhibiting agent; and to obtain a rubber composition using the resin. SOLUTION: The aniline-aldehyde resin to be compounded with the rubber is obtained by reacting an aniline compound with an aldehyde, preferably by using an acidic material as a catalyst and regulating the reaction ratio (aldehyde/aniline) of the aldehyde to the aniline so as to be 0.7-1.2.
