A disk information acquisition unit (250) acquires information on a disk (49). A disk decision unit (260) decides whether or not the kind of the disk (49) is the DVD+RW and belongs to an object disk, in which moving image data generated with either a DVD menu or stationary image data recorded in a disk. An additional record control unit (220) makes the control at the time of additionally recording the disk (49), in accordance with the decision result by the disk decision unit (260). A message display control unit (270) causes a display unit (280) to display a confirmation message at the time of shifting to a mode on the propriety of the additional record and an update confirmation message of the DVD menu and the moving picture data. An image recording device thus configured using a disk type recording medium of the DVD+RW standard can prevent the mismatch which might otherwise occur between the DVD menu or the moving image data and the recorded image data.
