PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a design method for space-time-frequency codes (STF codes), in which a minimum mean squared error decoder (MMSE decoder) is assumed to be used in a receiver side. SOLUTION: A method for transmitting symbols includes: an encoding step for generating encoded symbols, in which a vector included with a plurality of symbols is multiplied with an encoding matrix to be transmitted through at least one communication channel established between a transmitter and a receiver when symbols are transmitted through at least one channel in an electric communication system that includes at least one transmitter 10 provided with at least two transmission antennas (Antt1 and Antt2) and at least one receiver 20 provided with at least one receiving antenna (Antr1). The encoding matrix is calculated from eigenvalue-eigenvector composition for a matrix which is acquired by calculating at least Kronecker multiplication between a unit matrix in size N (time dimension and/or frequency dimension of codes) and a matrix acquired from a correlation matrix estimated with channel response.
