PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an Nb material where an Nb material which is ultra-heavy compared with the conventional one can be produced, and an oxide layer is hard to remain as well. SOLUTION: Nb or an Nb alloy, preferably Nb or an Nb alloy subjected to cold plastic working such as cold forging is subjected to warm plastic working, preferably, warm rolling in the temperature range of 500 to 900°C, and, upon the warm plastic working, an oxide layer formed on the surface of the Nb or Nb alloy is removed. For the removal of the oxide layer, at least one selected from polishing, grinding, blast treatment and pickling can be suitably used. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
