PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection valve capable of suitably dropping penetration performance of injection fuel. SOLUTION: This fuel injection valve is provided with a nozzle 11 formed in a hollow cylindrical shape. A needle valve which can move in an axial direction thereof is provided in the nozzle 11 and fuel is supplied to the inside of the nozzle 11 from a base end side. An injection hole 12 is formed at apposition offset from a center axis L1 of the nozzle on a tip of the nozzle 11. Execution and execution stop of fuel injection from an injection hole 12 through change over of open and shut off of the injection hole 12 accompanying movement of the needle valve. Total of passage section area of injection hole 12 opening on one side of a virtual plane including the center axis L1 of the nozzle 11 on an inner wall surface of the nozzle 11 and total of passage section area of the injection hole 12 opening to another side of the virtual plane are different.
