The vanadium content of the alloy is at least partly converted into discrete particles of vanadium and divanadium nitride. - A copper-based alloy contains vanadium which is partly or fully converted into vanadium nitrides of the vanadium nitride (VN) and divandium nitride (V2N) type, present in the form of discrete particles. - Independent claims are also included for the following: - (a) preparing the above alloy by heat treatment of the copper-vanadium alloy in a nitrogen-containing atmosphere; and - (b) a blank comprising the above alloy. |
