摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PON system and bandwidth control method in which, when a congestion occurs at the side of a frame transfer device (GW) connected with an OLT, congestion control can be performed while effectively utilizing uplink bandwidth in a PON block. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a PON system wherein, when an OLT connected to a plurality of ONUs over a passive optical network and connected to the frame transfer device (GW) via a communication line receives a congestion occurrence notification indicating an output port number brought into a congested state from the GW, an identifier of an ONU under utilizing a GW output line having the congested output port number is specified, and bandwidth control of the PON block is switched from an ordinary bandwidth allocation mode to ONUs to a bandwidth suppression mode during which a congestion allowable bandwidth less than a current bandwidth is allocated to an ONU having the specified ONU identifier and bandwidths corresponding to transmission queue lengths are allocated to other ONUs.
