The invention relates to electromechanical converters substantially used for slow-running (low-speed) drives. The inventive electromechanical converter can be used as a motor-in-wheel for transportation means, a lift drive motor, electric power generators, in particular as wind- and hydraulic generators of low and mean power, synchronous compensators etc. The inventive electromechanical converter consists of one or more stator-rotor pairs. Each stator-rotor pair comprises a stator and a double-induction rotor located on the outer and inner sides of the stator, the number of cores (teeth) of the electromechanical converter stator satisfies the range of relations between the numbers of cores and poles. The invention makes it possible to design a device exhibiting improved energy characteristics and increased specific power.
