PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately suppress the degradation of fuel economy resulting from a reduction in a state of charge when a vehicle velocity is set within a prescribed velocity range by alternately repeating acceleration running and coasting running.SOLUTION: A vehicle control device 100 controls a vehicle 10 provided with an internal combustion engine ENG, power generation means that converts at least either an engine output from the internal combustion engine or kinetic energy of the vehicle to electric power, and power storage means 500 that stores the electric power obtained by the conversion performed by the power generation means, and the vehicle control device comprises: first control means 101 for controlling the vehicle so that a vehicle velocity falls within a prescribed vehicle range by alternately repeating acceleration running in which the vehicle accelerates using the engine output and coasting running in which the vehicle coasts without using the engine output; and second control means 102 for controlling the power generation means so that the power generation means converts the engine output and the kinetic energy to the electric power during a coasting period during which the vehicle coasts.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
