PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of a diesel engine which can surely burn particulate substances collected in a diesel particulate filter while suppressing smoke in an exhaust emission.SOLUTION: This control device of a diesel engine aggregates exhaust gases in a plurality of cylinders to guide the gases into an exhaust passage, makes particulate substances in the exhaust gases pass through a filter which collects the particulate substances, and discharges the exhaust gases from which the particulate substances have been removed into atmospheric air. When performing regeneration operation for raising an exhaust gas temperature by retarding a fuel injection timing to burn the particulate substances which are collected in the filter, fuel injection timing retardant amounts are made to differ from one another at each cylinder or at each opportunity of fuel injection in order to control a total amount of smoke to be discharged from each cylinder during a one-time regeneration operation period.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
