Measuring device has adsorbent (160) placed in exhaust pipe (14) of internal combustion (IC) engine (1) and adsorbing component of combustion residue. Engine has sensors for crankshaft position (21), water temperature (22), throttle (7), oxygen (20), air-fuel ratio (19), etc. connected to electronic control unit (ECU - 25) for engine. ECU determines quantity of adhered fuel components, FWsomme. An Independent claim is also included for the method to determine quantity of combustion residue adsorbed in adsorber in exhaust pipe of engine.
