[Problem] To provide a video surveillance system and a video surveillance method provided with a video surveillance interface with which a displayed video can be set easily using a more intuitive operation, when performing an operation to switch camera images. [Solution] A video surveillance system in which a network connects together: one or more cameras which capture images of a prescribed area under surveillance, and acquire videos thereof; a display device provided with one or more monitors which display the videos from the cameras; and an operating terminal provided with a display means which displays an operating screen on a display screen, a touch panel which is disposed overlapping the display means and which detects gesture operations, and a control means which determines and controls the operations detected by the touch panel. The video monitoring system is characterized in that the operating terminal displays, on the operating screen displayed on the display means, camera buttons corresponding to each of the one or more cameras, and in that each camera button includes at least a monitor display portion which displays the status of display, on the monitors, of the video captured by the camera corresponding to said camera button. |
