<p>1505477 Ammonia and hydrogen sulphide removal CARL STILL 17 Aug 1976 [22 Aug 1975] 34189/76 Heading C1A Ammonia and hydrogen sulphide are removed from raw coke-oven gas by scrubbing the ammonia out with water and the H 2 S out with ammonia water in an ammonia circulation process, the HIS and NH 3 are removed from the scrubbing liquors with steam to yield deacidifying gases containing H 2 S and NH 3 , and the gases are oxidized in two stages with pure oxygen or with gases which have been enriched with oxygen, and passed over an oxidation catalyst to yield sulphur, nitrogen and water, and a part of the gases deriving from the second stage of oxidation are cooled and returned to the circulation, being mixed with the deacidifying gases to be reacted, or with the oxygen.</p> |
