1505726 Transducer for gas analysis PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 22 May 1975 [27 May 1974] 22214/75 Heading G1N A variable resistance transducer for sensing an oxidizing component in a gas mixture comprises a glass substrate 10 with two interdigitated conducting layers 11, 12 partly covered by a film 13 of semi-conductor oxide material with a surface layer 138 of a catalyst material formed by diffusion, and finally covered by a layer 14 of hydrophobic dielectric material formed as discrete lumps or islands, providing a large number of microscopic openings to the sensitized surface 13B. Details of suitable materials and the method of manufacture are given. The transducer is used in conjunction with a similar transducer element without the sensitized surface layer 13B to provide automatic compensation for variations in humidity and temperature. |
