The device transforms reciprocating mechanical movement to a rotational movement and includes reciprocating pistons which move inside cylinders. A pin with a spherical bearing is fitted to the inner end of each piston. The bearings locate into a groove cut diagonally around the circumference of a spool with a through shaft keyed to the spool. Reciprocating motion is transferred from the pistons to the spool groove, the wedge like action causing the spool and shaft to rotate. The device also works in reverse.
