<p>Stabiliser compsn. for vinyl resins comprises a cpd. of formula (I) and a cpd. of formula (II). (where R1 and R2 are each H, 1-12C opt. branched alkyl or alkoxy, or OH; R is H or 1-4C opt. branched alkyl or alkoxy; R3 is 1-22C opt. branched alkyl, opt. branched 3-11C alkenyl or alkynyl or phenyl or aralkyl opt. o- or p-substd. by halogen, CH3, CH3O, R4-O-(CH2)n- (where n is 2, 3 or 4 and R4 is 1-4C opt. branched alkyl) or phenyl). Parent patent described stabiliser compsns. as above where R is H and R3 is 1-12C opt. branched alkyl or 3-6C opt. branched alkenyl or alkynyl. Used for heat- and light-stabilisation of e.g. PVC, copoly(vinylchloride-vinylacetate), copoly(vinyl chloride-vinylidene chloride) etc. Compsn. is synergistic and has very low toxicity so that the stabilised resin can be used for wrapping foods etc. Sublimation and migration are very low so handling problems are reduced.</p> |
