The present invention relates to a process for producing a surface which has been modified by silanization and which is stable during storage. The process can be used when surface-modifying silicon surfaces, glass surfaces and metal surfaces and, for the silanization, makes use of a chemical compound of the formula <IMAGE> where R1 and R2 each denotes an alkoxy group or halide group, where R3 denotes H or an alkoxy group, where R4 denotes a branched or unbranched alkyl chain having up to 10 carbon atoms or a phenyl group, and where n is 0-10 and m is 2 or 3. This silane possesses a protected SH group. It is easy to eliminate the protecting group when required, thereby giving rise to a reactive thiol group on the surface for subsequent reaction, for example immobilizing organic molecules, biomolecules or particles on the surface. |
