<p>A method of operating a mechanical press (1) having a servo motor (20) and its servo controller, and aims at decelerating the speed of a ram (36) immediately before a tool impinges against a workpiece in order to reduce noise at the time of impingement of the tool. Its servo controller program controls the servo motor (20) on the basis of the speed of the ram (36) and its locus of positions inputted for each step through each setting switch disposed on a panel. This invention enables optimizing the speed of the ram (36) through program control and can reduce the noise during the operation.</p> |
