<p>PURPOSE:To improve precision by setting a virtual defect on a reference cable free from defect and operating a reflected wave received from the defective position as a parameter with respect to the virtual defect to estimate the defective position of a cable to be tested. CONSTITUTION:A reference conductor 6 free from defect is connected to a pulse tester 1, and a pulse signal is transmitted from a transmission part 2, and the reflected wave of the pulse signal in the conductor 6 is received by a reception part 3 and is stored in a memory 12. A virtual defect of the reference conductor 6 is set by an arithmetic unit 7, and the virtual distance of the virtual defect position is changed to compute the received reflected wave. The operation result is compared with the reflected wave of a conductor 6' to be tested, which is actually measured and is stored in a memory 17, by a comparing means 18, and the virtual defect point for 0 or minimum comparison error is discriminated as the defective position. Thus, the distance to the defective point is estimated with high precision.</p> |
