PURPOSE:To enlarge an area of contact with a substance to be inspected, to increase the intensity of a signal light and thereby to improve the precision of measurement by a method wherein at least two surfaces of an optical waveguide are made to be reactive surfaces and made to face a reaction tank. CONSTITUTION:At least two surfaces of an optical guide main body 11 of a slab-type optical waveguide 1 are made to be reactive surfaces 11a to 11d whereon an antibody against an antigen contained in a liquid to be inspected is fixed, and reaction tank parts 4a to 4d are made to face these surfaces. An exciting light emitted from a light source is totally reflected in a plurality of times on the main body 11 and then enters a detector for monitoring. On the other side, the liquid to be inspected, containing the antigen, and a fluorochrome tagged antibody are injected into the reaction tank parts 4a to 4d, a part of fluorescence excited thereby is propagated through the main body 11 and reflected by a dichroic mirror, and only the fluorescence is made to enter a detector for measurement. With doubled intensity of a signal light, in this way, a signal of the detector for measurement is corrected on the basis of a signal of the detector for monitoring. Thereby an effect of fluctuation of the intensity of the exciting light or the like is excluded and measurement of high precision can be executed. |
