PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize images by surely capturing image characteristics even with partial vagueness of the image of an object taken in with a CCD camera due to surrounding illumination state or the surface state of the parts. SOLUTION: A bar code label 9 is taken in a frame RAM 5 with a CCD camera, image information in a specific region is called out of the images taken in on the XY coordinate, the light and shade value of the image in Y direction is added for every X coordinate from the image information, the addition value is stored as projection information in Y direction for every variable corresponding to X coordinate, and from the projection information in Y direction, peak position is detected in turn from the projection information in Y direction. Therefore, the recognition of bar code taken in with a CCD camera 2 can be performed by the projection image in Y direction and even with partial vagueness of image of the bar code taken in with the CCD camera 2 due to surrounding illumination condition and partial defect by stain of the bar code label 9, the characteristic points of the bar code is surely detected and this can be recognized. |
