PURPOSE:To obtain an exceedingly simple energy absorbing structure for softening the impact in the collision of a driver with a steering wheel in the emergent collision, etc., and surely operate the structure. CONSTITUTION:A penetration part 6 for the lateral press destruction is formed on a bracket A1 which shifts together with a steering column 2, and on both the sides of a flat shaped main part 7, an energy absorbing body B having the contact pieces 9 and 9 for the pressed destruction is installed so as not to be shiftable. The energy absorbing body B is installed in penetration through the penetration part 6 for the lateral pressed destruction. In the ordinary case, both the sides of the penetration part 6 for the lateral press destruction are in contact with the contact pieces 9 and 9 for the pressed destruction. |
