Searching for elements in list e.g. for interactive television, teleshopping or telelearning

The method searches for an element arranged together with several other elements in a list (L). A search movement is carried out in the list (L) to find the element. Several elements in the list are combined to form a block such that the list (L) has several blocks. The search movement is then carried out from block to block. Preferably after searching from block to block, a block is selected and the first element of that block is identified. A preselected element of the list may be chosen. A code allocated to the respective block may be displayed during the search movement. The user may input a search command via remote control.
