PURPOSE: A method of filtering an LCD(liquid crystal display) is to remove the ionic impurities within the liquid crystal, thereby extending lifetime of the LCD. CONSTITUTION: An inorganic insulating layer(3,3') and an electrode(2,2') are attached to both ends of a container(4). A liquid crystal is contained within the container. A power(6) is applied to both ends of the electrode. An electromagnet(1,1') is attached to a surface perpendicular to a surface on which the electrode is attached. To another vertical surfaces of the container, an adsorbing agent is attached to adsorb the ionic impurities. If the power is applied to the electrode, the ionic impurities within the liquid crystal are moved by an electric field. A magnetic field is produced by the electromagnet. By this magnetic field, the ionic impurities are moved to direction perpendicular the electric field and the magnetic field. Therefore, the ionic impurities are adsorbed to the adsorbing agent.
