PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply, easily and economically obtain the subject compound useful as a therapeutic agent for acquired immune deficiency syndrome by reacting a specific pyrimidinedione compound with a cyclopentene compound. SOLUTION: By reacting a compound of formula I with a compound of formula II (wherein, Lie is an eliminable group) preferably in the presence of a base at 10-100 deg.C for 4-72 h. while pouring oxygen into the reaction system, the objective compound of formula III is obtained. The reaction can be carried out using a catalyst such as lithium iodide and in a polar solvent such as dimethylformamide. The compound of formula I can be synthesized by the hydrolysis of a compound of formula IV under an acidic condition using an acid such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric one preferably at 25-120 deg.C for 1-48 h.
