PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fatty alcohol having excellent preservation stability, and to provide a method for producing the fatty alcohol, especially the fatty alcohol having the preservation stability under the preservation by a tank or the like, and the transportation by a tanker, and the method for producing the fatty alcohol. SOLUTION: Nitrogen of 50-150 N-liter/ton is dissolved in the 4-22C natural or synthetic, straight chain or branched fatty alcohol. Preferably, the dissolved amount of the oxygen in the fatty alcohol is≤1.5 N-liter/ton. Industrially, the fatty alcohol having excellent preservation stability is obtained by blowing the nitrogen containing 10-10,000 ppm oxygen into the fatty alcohol degassed by a reduced pressure, and transporting the resultant alcohol to a container.
