PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide benzoazine mono-N-oxides and benzoazine 1,4-dioxides and compositions therefrom for therapeutic use in cancer treatment. SOLUTION: A cytotoxic synergistic composition comprises an effective amount of a benzoazine N-mono oxide compound of formula A (wherein, Z is an N or a C-CN; the N-oxide moiety occupies one of the 1-, 2- or 4-positions when Z represents an N; and the N-oxide moiety occupies one of the 1- or 4-positions when Z represents a C-CN) or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof and an effective amount of a benzoazine 1,4-dioxide compound of formula B (wherein, Z is an N or a C-CN) or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof.
