PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove the refuse or waste yarn of an insulation board thrust in the surface of the foamed synthetic resin plate used in a tatami core material. SOLUTION: The apparatus for shaving the surface of the foamed synthetic resin plate used in the tatami core material has a placing stand 1 on which the foamed synthetic resin plate A is placed and metal roller brushes 3 and 4 are installed above and below the placing stand 1 in the vicinity of the central part thereof as cutting mechanisms 2. The foreign matter such as refuse or waste yarn of the insulation board thrust in the surface of the foamed synthetic resin plate A is removed by the roller brushes 3 and 4 while shaving off the surface of the foamed synthetic resin plate A.
