PURPOSE:To obtain metallic magnetic powder with superior magnetic characteristics by sticking a Zn compound to powder of a metallic compound consisting essentially of iron oxyhydroxide or iron oxide, heat treating the powder, and carrying out reduction under heating. CONSTITUTION:A Zn compound is stuck to the particle surfaces of powder of a metallic compound consisting essentially of iron oxyhydroxide or iron oxide. The powder is heat treated at 500-1,000 deg.C and reduced under heating in a reducing atmosphere of gaseous hydrogen or the like. By this method sintering among the particles of the powder and the deformation of the particles are inhibited effectively, and iron-base metallic magnetic powder with superior magnetic characteristics is obtd. |
