PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polishing fixture and method, capable of attaining high accuracy and cost reduction, and polishing a recessed cylindrical surface without using large-scaled and expensive processing devices and measuring instruments. SOLUTION: This polishing fixture includes a columnar polishing rod 50 and a retaining member 12 having a receiving portion 14 fixing the polishing rod 50. A number of grooves for retaining abrasive are provided at the columnar polishing rod 50. Edge portions 16 in the inside of the receiving portion 14 provided at the retaining member 12 are formed in parallel with high accuracy, and the polishing rod 50 is brought into contact with the edge portions 16 to be supported. An adhesive is applied to a gap between the columnar polishing rod 50 and the receiving portion 14 of the retaining member 12 to bond and fix the both. A mounting hole 13 is provided in the retaining member 12, thus mounting the retaining member to a polishing table. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
