PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content distribution system and a portable content reproduction unit, capable of easily transferring content from a content distribution server without a personal computer. SOLUTION: In the content distribution system, the content distribution server extracts a particular content from a database, based on a preset extraction condition for the portable content reproduction unit, manages the extracted content as content to be transferred, and transmits the data of the content to be transferred by reading it from the database after making connection to the portable content reproduction unit. Meanwhile, the portable content reproduction unit receives the content data transmitted from the content distribution server, so as to store it in a storage medium. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
