The present invention relates to a preparation method of a superabsorbent polymer. The preparation method of a superabsorbent polymer according to the present invention performs a reassembling step by mixing a compound having a particular chemical formula and water with a polymer prepared by polymerizing an ethylene-based unsaturated monomer. The preparation method of the present invention can enhance water retaining properties of the polymer, and can reduce monomer residues in the polymer, thereby enhancing the quality of a final resin.
