PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to allow a user to easily open/close a cover.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a housing having a pair of frames 24R, 24L spaced from each other, and an opening formed between the pair of front frames 24R, 24L; a front cover 21(cover) arranged to move between a closed position for closing the opening and an open position for opening the opening; an interlock switch for detecting whether the front cover 21 is opened/closed; a lock mechanism 400 which selects a lock state for regulating displacement of the front cover 21 located in the closed position, or a release state for allowing displacement of the front cover 21; and pressing members 310, 320 arranged separately from the interlock switch, to press the front cover 21 located in the closed position toward the open position.
