PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a lithium-based multiple oxide in a very short time by subjecting to high-frequency heating a lithium-based multiple oxide precursor material which consists of compounds of Li, Ni and a transition metal other than Ni and has specified atomic ratios of these constituent metals to each other. SOLUTION: In this lithium-based multiple oxide production process above described, hydroxides, nitrates, carbonates, organic acid salts, or the like, can be used as the compounds of Li, Ni and a transition metal other than Ni, and preferably at least one of these compounds is hydroxide. The atomic ratios of Li, Ni and a transition metal other than Ni are adjusted to x:(1-y):y, respectively (wherein: 0<x<1.1; and 0<=y<0.6) and therefore this lithium-based multiple oxide is represented by the general formula LixNi1-yMeyO2 (wherein Me is a transition metal other than Ni); and as the metal Me, a transition metal selected from Ti, V, Cr, or the like, is used. This production process comprises: subjecting lithium-based multiple oxide raw materials to dry mixing to obtain a precursor material; if necessary, further subjecting the precursor material to press forming into a precursor green body; and subjecting the precursor material or green body to high-frequency heating and reaction by using high-frequency waves of 1-3,000 MHz, preferably in an atmosphere having a >=20% ratio of oxygen partial pressure to the total pressure, for a 5 min to 10 hr heating time. |
