PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, causing no deterioration in battery performance.SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material of the present invention comprises LiNiMnCoMO(where, x+y+z+w=1, 0<x, 0<y, 0<z and 0≤w are satisfied, and M represents one or more selected from a transition metal element and aluminum). In the positive electrode active material, crystals are participated by a flux method.
