A scanner having a single integrated camera and a mechanism to adjustable alter the field of view of the camera to provide a field of view coverage area equivalent to scanners having two or more integrated cameras.

intermittently stopping a mirror by a drive continuously rotating and intermittently engaging an index wheel; reflecting a direction that a lens of a camera is pointed at to a field of view produced by reflection off the mirror; and activating the camera to take an image of an object present in the field of view.
