PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compatible optical pickup device for making compatible optical disks of different formats such as CD-family CD-RWs and DVD-ROMs. SOLUTION: The compatible optical pickup device includes a first light source 111, a second light source 121, a light path conversion means, an objective lens 131, and a main photo detector 140, the light path conversion means is provided on the path between the first light source 111 and the objective lens 131, includes a first beam splitter 113 in flat-plate structure for converting a first light advance path applied from the first light source 111 and a second beam splitter 133 in flat-plate structure for converling the first and second light advance paths being arranged on the light path between the first beam splitter 113 and the objective lens 131, and the main photo detector 140 includes a first photo detector 141 that is divided into four divided regions and second and third photo detectors 143 and 145 that are arranged at both the sides of the first photo detector 141 and are divided into two divided regions. |
