CONTINUOUS CASTING METHOD OF HIGH GRADE STEEL

PURPOSE:To prevent generation of an oxide and to improve the characteristic on the surface of a billet by forming a tundish nozzle to an open type, casting a molten steel without lubricating and stirring the molten steel in a casting mold. CONSTITUTION:The space between a tundish 1 and a casting mold 3 is enclosed with a hermetic chamber 5 and a gas feed valve 8 and discharge valve 9 are provided so that an inert gas can be supplied therein and that the pressure thereof can be controlled. The chamber 5 is made into a freely expandable and contractable construction as the mold 3 oscillates vertically. A nozzle 7 of an open type and a stopper 6 intended for opening or closing the pouring or controling the flow rate are provided to the tundish 1. A sensor for detecting the level of a molten steel, for example, a thermocouple 11, is embedded in the mold 3. An induction coil 4 is attached to the outside of the mold 3 to stir the molten steel in the mold 3.
