PURPOSE:To measure the pH of an aqueous solution on the basis of potential response, by forming a film having reversible redox function to the surface of a conductive substrate and further forming a polymer film containing a hydrogen gas carrier to said film. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen ion carrier membrane 14 is formed so as to cover a redox film 13. This carrier film 14 comprises a composition obtained by containing amine or electrolyte salt as a hydrogen carrier and, if necessary, a polymer plasticizer in a polymer film being a carrier such as polyvinyl chloride film. The hydrogen ion in an aqueous solution is rapidly transported to the film 13 through the carrier film 14 and the film 13 brings about redox reaction to generate electromotive force corresponding to the concn. of the hydrogen ion. |
