PURPOSE:To obtain the Met new chemical substance having fine algae growth- suppressive activity, thus useful for controlling or suppressing the abnormal breeding of fine algae in red tides, lakes or waterways. CONSTITUTION:The halimesine A derivative of formula I [Ac is acetyl; R1-R4 are each an alkylcarbonyl of formula COCnH2n+1 ((n) is an integer of 1-7) or H, where, they are not H simultaneously], e.g. a compound of formula II (Ac is acetyl). The compound of formula II has the following physicochemical properties: color: none; molecular weight: 972; molecular formula: C50H84O18; specific rotatory power [alpha]<26>D:+7.8 (c=0.3, CHCl3); solubility: soluble to MeOH, EtOH, acetone, EtOAc, CHCl3, sparingly soluble to water, etc. The derivative of formula I is obtained by reaction at -10 to 50 deg.C for 10min to 24h between e.g. a carboxylic anhydride and halimesine A produced by purifying a cultured product obtained by culturing a strain such as Fusarium sp. FE-71-1 (FERM P-13910) in a medium. |
