The head restraint has two guide bars, held positively in channels in the seat, and fixed via locking devices (4). These consist of leg springs (5), and each guide bar (3) is coaxially fitted into a spring. One leg (6) of the spring is fixed, while the second leg (7) is adjustable, so that it releases the guide bar for axial movement. The second leg is moved by an actuator (8). Each channel is formed by an anchor sleeve (9), esp. positioned in the back rest (2) of a vehicle seat. The spring is located in the sleeve, and the second spring leg is accessible from the sleeve aperture, for radial movement.
