PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carbonaceous composite material having an excellent secondary Corrosion-preventing performance by including graphite fluoride, an alkali agent for neutralizing hydrogen fluoride or an absorbent for fixing the hydrogen fluoride, and a carbonaceous component as the remainder. SOLUTION: This carbonaceous composite material is obtained e.g. by compounding a carbonaceous component raw material comprising about 60 wt.% of natural graphite, about 20 wt.% of an epoxy resin and further a curing agent, an organic solvent, etc., with <=1.0 wt.% of graphite fluoride and an alkali agent for neutralizing hydrogen fluoride or an absorbent for fixing the hydrogen fluoride in an amount of the approximately same weight as the graphite fluoride. A sliding member manufactured from the composite material exhibits an extremely low free fluoride ion concentration, excellent abrasion resistance and excellent self-lubricity. The alkali agent for neutralizing the hydrogen fluoride is selected from alkali metal or alkaline earth metal oxides or hydroxides such as lithium oxide, calcium oxide and lithium hydroxide, and the adsorbent for fixing hydrogen fluoride is selected from the fluorides of alkali metals or alkaline earth metals, such as sodium fluoride. |
