IMAGE PROCESSING UNIT, IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD AND RECORD MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily retrieve a scene. SOLUTION: An encoder board 213 provides an output of index data as an evaluation value representing a complicated image and calculates a scene change parameter denoting a degree of scene changes in the image. Then the scene change parameter and a scene change pointer as position information relating to a position of the image denoting a degree of the scene change by the scene change parameter are cross-referred and the result is stored in an index file. On the other hand, a moving picture experts group(MPEG) system stream outputted from the encoder board 213 is recorded in other MPEG file than the index file.
