Drive carrier and cartridge library employing same

An automated library (2230) for cartridges of storage media includes a drive carrier (2239) which slidably inserts into a compartment or bay (2902) formed in the library frame. The drive carrier accommodates a storage drive (2970), such as a tape drive. The drive carrier comprises a carrier housing which defines a cavity (2968) into which the drive is insertable. A power-driven fan (2972) mounted within the carrier housing provides ventilation of the carrier housing. The drive carrier also has a circuit board (3000) which is floatingly connected to an exterior of the carrier housing. The circuit board is electrically connected to a device electrical connector (2980) for the drive and a device electrical connector for the fan. A power source connector (2940) is situated on a frame of the library; when the drive carrier is inserted into a drive carrier insertion port, and edge connector (3016) on the circuit board mates with the source power connector.
